Read and answer the questions
Last week, you read about a monster snake. This week you will read about a monster-looking fish. Take a look at it here The Fang tooth fish
. What do you think? Is it pretty?
This is the fangtooth fish, which lives in many oceans of the world. The name comes from the giant teeth. They are fangs (牙). Even though the fish may look dangerous, it is not because it only grows to be six inches (15 cm). And, even though it can be found in many oceans in the world, it lives very deep in the ocean--below 2,000 feet (610 meters).
Living so deep in the ocean is difficult. The water pressure is very high, and the water temperature is almost freezing. It eats anything that comes near it. When another fish or a shrimp comes nears, the fangtooth simply opens its big mouth and sucks the animal in.
An interesting fact concerns the teeth. The fangs are so long that it is difficult for the fish to close its mouth. The fish has "fang pockets" for its teeth. HereFang pockets you can see a picture.
